Venice 2005

Having been to Venice before in 2001 (see the earlier Venice gallery) we were well placed to recommend a visit in 2005 as a family trip. Arriving in mid May we were lucky enough to catch the Vogalonga boat race as well as plenty of sunshine, and had a chance to explore some areas we'd not visited previously. As before we stayed on the Lido di Venezia, a much cheaper and more relaxed place to stay.
The Chiesa di Santa Maria Salute is almost as familiar as St Mark's Square, with it's ornate statues and white frontage onto the Grand Canal.
We stayed at the Hotel Atlanta Augustus on via Lepanto. Good service, smart clean rooms, and very reasonably priced. Recommended.
