Queensland - Whitsundays
Created July 2001, last updated July 2001.
The Whitsunday Coast and Islands are a very special part of Australia. Centrally located on the Queensland Coast 150km north of Mackay and 300km south of Townsville yet right in the heart of the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. The Whitsundays consists of over 74 tropical islands, many of which are National Parks.
Hill Inlet is at Whitsunday Island between Tongue Bay and Whitehaven Beach.. It is an amazing place and really beautiful - you will get the best view either by taking a plane/helicopter ride or the short (about 10 minutes) hike up the hill at Tongue Bay.
Hill Inlet is a beautiful beach which is part of a national park, which preserves the pristine condition of the surroundings.
