So who is Edward Grigson, and why's he filling up the web with yet more photos of the same old places? A fine question, and one that deserves an answer...
I'm a 'thirty something' guy, born and living in the UK, working as a network analyst. No pets, no kids, no worries!
This website really came around when two passions collided. I've been a keen computer advocate for many years (since the early 1980's) and I finally got interested in making websites. At first I didn't have anything worth publishing, so I couldn't really get involved, I didn't have the motivation. That was solved when I gained a passion for photography - that started much more recently in 1999 when I went travelling to Australia via South East Asia. While living in Australia I thought it would be nice to put my photos on the web, allowing friends and family back home to keep up to date with my travels. Voila, motivation, and eventually the first incarnation of my website was born.
Like most things, I had a lot to learn at first and consequently I didn't make a great job of it. The site looked fine, but was high maintenance - adding photos took too much time I didn't have. As a result, I stopped updating it after a while. A few years later I found time to update both my skills and the website, and it's the finished result you're now looking at.
I enjoy maintaining the website and it helps me in several ways; it makes me take more photos as it provides a framework for showing them off, and it works as a creative outlet for my overactive brain. In an ideal world I'd eventually sell a photo or two via the web, but I suspect I'm not quite there yet (feel free to disagree and buy one - just email me!).
